Have I told you I dream of having my own house and a beautiful backyard?  I have big plans for a little herb garden, a wonderful sitting area and gorgeous flowers that say, “It’s a beautiful day.”  I want to lounge with a good book while my boys run around all crazy and have fun.

To give my backyard dream hope, I’ve found an outlet.  Bulbs.Dig.Drop.Done. gave one lucky lady a $5,000 yard makeover.  Big congrats to Ruth and word up to Curbside Chaos!!  I’m jealous, and the yard design is wicked cool.  The makeover team put together a backyard escape that kept the openness of Ruth’s backyard, but brought is all together with a large sitting area.  Check it out:

What would I do if it had been me with a brand new yard?  I’d gut what we have now, there’s nothing just a yard full of half dead weeds, dirt, and little patches of grass.  Then, I’d put a lemon tree in the corner, my herb garden next to the patio outside my bedroom window, and extend the patio out to have a rounded section on one end for a lovely sitting area.  The yard itself would be gull of a large grass area and bordered by bright, gorgeous flowers.  I’d put some flowers in a few large pots around the sitting area too.  I’m fantasizing now.

To make planning out all my flowers, I used the Garden Guru Tool to find my area and pick from a selection of bulbs for the time of year I want those bright colored lovelies to bloom.  I love the selections I was given.  This tool really makes getting your garden just right a breeze.

With the ease of using bulbs for flowers, I’m feeling like I could be a pro!  You literally dig a hole, drop the bulb in, and you’re done.  Get it – Bulb.Dig.Drop.Done.  Smarties!  Now I don’t have to have a licence to garden to get great results.  Better yet, bulbs go way beyond gardening.  They make the perfect gift.  I’m so putting together a flower gift pack for a special someone in my life with some easy to plant bulbs.  She’s a little hard to shop for most times.  But that’s not, Use bulbs to fill a large clear vase and then add in some of the blooms those bulbs would grow.  This shows the plant life cycle in a creative way.

While going through the dig.drop.done website there’s this really fun “About Us: The Ladies” section.  I couldn’t help but giggle.  The worst/best part is, I’m totally Marcy (AKA Super Mom).

I mean, come on.  She’s holding a mixing bowl…duh!
I love finding double whammy projects.  Using bulbs as a science project for the kids and getting to keep the flowers is perfect.  Now, the color coordinating thing isn’t so much me, well not to the extent Marcy takes it (watch the video), but I love the idea of planting my boys’ favorite colors in the garden.  They can be proud of a green thumb and I get to have a “mom moment” whenever I look outside.

Now this awesome bulb-ness is all well and good, but here’s the real kicker where you, yes YOU, can make a difference.  Spread to word about bulbs and Curbside Chaos on twitter using the hashtag #CurbsideChaos.  Every time you or someone who’s awesome (like you) share that hashtag, Blubs.Dig.Drop.Done. with donate $1.00 to Rebuilding Together – the nation’s leading nonprofit, working to preserve affordable home ownership and revitalize communities.  Let’s make it happen people!  And don't forget to visit www.digdropdone.com to learn more.
